SOLD OUT!!

These words rang in my ears when we sold out the first 1000 pieces of our Afrixx pioneer drop. A beginning of the journey we never envisioned. When this project revealed itself, it felt like serendipity. Why? I never pictured myself getting involved in an NFT project at the beginning of the year. I didn’t even know what an NFT was. I just followed my curiosity and allowed my imagination to do the rest.

Some people may argue that there are no such things as coincidences. Looking through the timeline of the Afrixx drop and the one before it, it felt like a well planned out roadmap. One with milestones and challenges. One where we put out amazing pieces of work that’ll stand the test of time and for that alone, I am immensely grateful.

We as human beings love stories and the ways we tell these stories is through different media. Be it written in a book or displayed on a screen or even on stage, we enjoy these pieces of heaven that stories give us. All of us have the potential to inspire others and we can do this by telling our stories. That’s why I chose to tell the stories. But I couldn’t do it alone so I reached out to a group of enthusiastic friends. People who wanted to create magic. Iconic African characters.

Preservation through media is a way we can immortalize ourselves. We are pieces of information of certain ages and periods in time. This reminds me of the system that we are currently exploring; The blockchain. The place of limitless storage of interactions we make online. A form of digital immutability we have no choice but to be a part of. The blockchain is a piece of technology that mimics nature. How? By creating positions in time and storing them with enough information. Information passed down through epochs. In nature you could equate this as the DNA sequences of human beings. It’s with these pieces of technology that we connect human progression in a unique way. One that is ubiquitous like oxygen. A lifeblood for the internet. A foundation of the future.

Through this discovery, we are able to understand ourselves better. Through this we are able to achieve humanity. This year I truly experienced Ubuntu. A deeper human experience where life is performed together with others actively. A special kind of group love. One where you watch your brother’s back without expecting anything in return. Your default mode is to give. And what gift from a human would be as great as kindness? A reference for what’s good. This I can say has been the lifeblood of Afrixx. People coming together from different continents to share a piece of history together. Projecting their love for a strong foundation that is grounded in historical characters. Characters, both flawed and exceptional. Characters who have legendary statuses. A new tribe has formed for me and this brings out a different kind of magic.

The internet is here to stay unless we run out of copper to mine or we experience a nuclear apocalypse. In the unlikely scenario where this happens, what would be left? The people around us. The stories we have told ourselves. The legacy we have built. These will be the things that matter. So it is important to build a legacy that lives beyond us. One that serves as a glue for us all.

Afrixx has layers of potential that are overwhelming to think about. We have only scratched the surface with what we can and will do. We haven’t sold out our NFT pieces but this hasn’t deterred the work that is going on behind the scenes. Not only that, but we have scratched an itch and it feels good. The reception has been largely positive and heart-warming. I can’t deny I had been scared about how it would go.I had what felt like a panic attack a day before launch. Pacing in the shower and worrying about failure, but now? I write this with a smile. One that screams “We did it!”. One with immense gratitude to the team behind this project. My fellow artists. The Wada team.Superstars. The artists that believed in my leadership, Wada, have been family. I thank you all so, so much. There’s a lot of work to be done. I know this because I haven’t stopped searching. But it’s going to be worth our time.

To the community, I want to extend our gratitude to you. Those who defended the project from the jump. Who suggested ideas for us to pursue. Those who put our pieces up in virtual galleries. We thank you and we are cooking with the ingredients we were served. The journey is at its inception and we shall continue giving it our all.

That said, we are still minting https://afrixx.buffybot.io/

Please support this project so we can achieve what we have laid out on our roadmap.

We will be releasing teasers for the graphic novel in the coming weeks and we will keep putting out stories of these great iconic characters.

Don’t forget to positively impact the community you find yourself in. And if you don’t have a community, create one. This is how we achieve Ubuntu. Happy holidays to you lovely shimmering lights of wonder. Stay blessed.
